ALCALICA is a live electronic projectstarted in Berlin in 2003 applyinganalogue and digital electronic devicesand cabeling to instruments such assantoor, kalimba, voice, resonant box, etc. It is a moving project playing in changing constellations.Live audio-visual drums and vocals for an elektro-dub set.Featuring sounds from traditional instruments in a constant experiment with electronic devices, using feeling beyond the structure, ALCALICA's songs and instrumental pieces span from evocative film soundtrack to squat party sound.
The rhythms of combined drummmachines and live drumming play with breakcore, electro, ska, dub. ALCALICA is a dub band mixing a discovery of mutated elements and create unusual musical frames. Tickling the frontiers between realities, the music and the live visuals spark associations into a manifold of points of junctions.
The live set emphasises on the beats and bass lines using effects, spoken word and wired instruments. Themusical competency and the versatility fit a number of venues; night club, theater or festival: a PA and a monitor suffice, stereo output.
ALCALICA has released 3 vinyl 12" EPs on PHOTOVOLTAIC RECORDS and producedmusic for dance-theater, documentary and fictionalfilms, museums, weddings, theater etc. Intenseproduction and frequent concerts have set a highturn over of songs, overtaking the most loyalafficionados.
